British Brands: Cobra & Bellamy

Over the coming months I wanted to share with you some wonderful British brands which are coming to the fore through word of mouth recommendation.

Whether it’s beauty, skincare, fashion or accessories homegrown talent seems to be having a moment and I think if you’ve got the option of handing over your hard-earned cash to a smaller, artisanal company  who offer great service and quality products, then most of us would rather do that, right? It’s great to support British innovation and enterprise, after all.

I was looking for a new watch recently and a friend from my hometown in Cornwall suggested I check out the collection by watchmaker Cobra & Bellamy who left London’s rat race  (Sloane Street to be precise) and are now based in beautiful Lamorna Cove, (home of the greatest Cream Tea in the world fyi.)

I couldn’t believe I’d never heard about them before, because they are so up my street and after looking at the website I’m not entirely sure why they’re not a household name already. However due to legions of loyal customers (Sienna Miller included) they soon could be.

The collection consists of lovely classic handmade pieces which hark back to the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, they look like they might grace the wrist of a glamorous Agatha Christie femme fatale about the board the Orient Express, down a couple of gimlets and cause some mayhem. (Go with me here.) I chose the lovely rose gold Sennen (named after my favourite beach) with a black strap.

And crucially, they are very reasonably priced between £99 – £160, you’d pay more than that for a big name brand, slapped together in a factory. Cobra & Bellamy really is the definition of luxe for less.

But reasonable as they are, we all love a bargain and so to celebrate the start of British Summer Time this weekend (yay!)) there’s a special offer on any of the ‘Cobra & Bellamy’ selection of watches or for the guys, the Men’s Classics  (the white faced ones) where you can claim £20 off the price if you enter the offer code ‘time20’ at the website checkout.

If you order before 2pm the watch will be posted the same day and arrive in a be-ribboned box making it the perfect present or even just a treat for yourself.

What better way to mark Spring Forward than with a new timepiece? Saves you putting the hour hand forward on your old one at least! ; )

Thanks for reading, let me know which one is your favourite in the comment’s section.

Hope you’re all having a lovely Easter weekend.
